Chapter 3: Journey Begins

Sanjh’s POV:

I woke up to the sound of my alarm and was confused to see a different room. Then I remembered—we were at my grandma's home. I looked beside me to see Hima, my youngest cousin, sleeping soundly. I could not stop chuckling looking at her sleeping position. She had her mouth open and her hands raised as if ready to punch anyone who tried to come her way.

I quickly got ready to go to the washroom and have a bath. After bathing, I chose a jumpsuit as it would be comfortable for the journey. Later I woke up Hima, who went to freshen up. Soon we were both ready and made our way downstairs to join the rest of the family.

As I entered the main hall, I saw my father all ready and helping my uncles with the luggage. My mom was with my aunts, and the delicious aroma from the kitchen indicated that they were making some homemade food and snacks to eat during the journey. I joined my father and uncles to help them with the luggage while Hima went to the kitchen.

As I was loading the luggage, I saw Hima coming back with freshly baked cookies in both her hands and a wide smile on her lips. She came near me and stuffed a cookie in my mouth. This was her way of helping our moms.

Soon everyone came and started getting into the cars. Ramesh uncle helped grandma towards the car. And I could see the disapproving look my grandma gave as soon as she saw the jumpsuit I was wearing. Though it was fully covering my legs and was half-sleeved, yet my grandma could not help but have a problem with my dress.

I got into the car with Ujwal bhai in the driver's seat and Yuvi bhai in the passenger seat. Sriya di and Prithvi bhai were sitting at the back while me and Hima sat in the middle. Our car was a seven seater. Soon the other cars were occupied with my other family members.

We started our journey with Ramesh uncle's car leading the way and the other two cars, including ours, following behind.

Our car was blasting with loud music—Sriya di, me, Hima, and Prithvi bhai playing antakshari, while Yuvi bhai and Ujwal bhai were having some discussion about which restaurant would be best to have our breakfast.

And this is how our journey to Nishigiri began.
